HUGH GREATHEAD

Born in South Africa, I have lived and worked in nine African countries before moving to Germany in 2015.

Throughout my travels I have found that no matter our circumstance, we may all enjoy God's creation: whether it be the hell of war or poverty, or the comforts of peace and provision. No matter what divides us, we are united by time and the free things in life.

For me, art starts as an image where rhythm and colour bubble up to become a frustration that needs to be released. Only by painting the picture am I able to complete the image in my mind. 

Through the process of creation, the gaps are resolved and this makes painting a picture like exploring an exciting location for the first time - I can't wait to see what's around the corner - sometimes it's breath taking!
